H.B. Lawrence, 93, of Craig, Missouri, was born May 27, 1927, to Ralph Waldo and Gertrude (Nies) Lawrence. He graduated from Fairfax High School in May of 1945 and was drafted into the United States Army after his 18th birthday. After basic training, H.B. served his country behind a typewriter processing thousands of discharge papers for soldiers returning from overseas. He typed his own discharge in 1947 and returned home to marry Patricia Jean Stewart of Fairfax, Missouri. They had three daughters. H.B. farmed until his retirement. H.B. delighted in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a great fan of Fairfax Bulldogs athletics and a faithful attendee of the Fairfax Alumni Banquet. H.B. enjoyed life in the country, bird-watching, trips to the mountains, going to the movies, playing the piano, a good pun, and a shake from the Dairy Diner in Fairfax.
H.B. was preceded in death by his parents, his ex-wife, infant daughter, Cynthia Ann, and his sister, Dorothy Roorda. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Heitman of Maryville, Missouri, and Janet Green of Redmond, Washington; six grandchildren, Heidi (Joe) Unternahrer of Tarkio, Missouri, Trudy (Rebel) Herron of Fairfax, Patty (Chris) Williamson of Palmyra, Missouri, Katie (Aaron) Murphy of Barnard, Missouri, Dustin Green of Redmond, Washington, and Alexis Green of Renton, Washington; nine great-grandchildren, Viviane and Vera Hale of Tarkio, Ray Herron of Fairfax, Claire and Luke Williamson of Palmyra, Avery Murphy of Barnard, and Tycho, Robin, and Isaac Richter-Green of Redmond; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
