Rock Port Chamber cancels 2020 Old Fashioned Saturday Night
The Rock Port Chamber of Commerce met August 5 and discussed whether or not to continue with plans for Old Fashioned Saturday Night.
After much discussion and conferring with Dr. Burke it was decided to cancel this year’s Old Fashioned Saturday Night because of COVID-19.
Dr. Burke recommended not having it and said if it was held, EVERYONE would have to wear a mask all the time they were there because of COVID-19.
Chamber members decided it would be in everyone’s best interest to cancel the event this year. COVID-19 is still very much in the county and they don’t want to be responsible for anyone getting it.
Betty Stoner, organizer, said, “Hopefully things will get straightened out later this year. Just hang in there. I know some were looking forward to it. I hope everyone understands and hopefully we will see you at Old Fashioned Saturday Night next year.”
No greenery this year
Fairfax Xi Lambda Beta of Beta Sigma Phi will not be offering Christmas greenery this year due to COVID-19. The group has appreciated all their customers throughout the area for their patronage and support of their efforts, which has allowed them to support many community projects.
