Scouting is built on providing hands-on, interactive activities that lead scouts down the path of character and leadership development. At meetings, Cub Scouts will interact with friends, play purposeful games, and learn new skills through age-appropriate activities outlined in their Cub Scout handbooks.
The local Pack 88 conducts flag-raising ceremonies at football games, participates in a pack ‘lock-in,’ Pinewood Derby, pizza party, summer camps in Maryville and at Camp Geiger near St. Joseph, and other outings. Students can join scouting at any age. Each year of scouting starts a new group of activities in their “den” designed for their age group.
Special procedures are in place this fall due to COVID-19. This includes meeting outdoors weekly, instead of bi-weekly, through mid-October at the city park pavilions in small group dens only to promote social distancing. Hand sanitizer and masks are available to each den and the meetings will last one hour. For more information, contact Matt Schlueter, cubmaster, at 816-719-5260.
