Patty Bredensteiner, K-12 art instructor and librarian at Fairfax R-3 School District, received a $500 classroom grant from the Missouri Retired Teacher Foundation (MRTF). Patty’s grant requested a Promethean Board for her art classroom. This technology is similar to a Smart board but offers teachers more tools and options.
Gay Dittemore made the presentation. Gay is vice-president of the Region 1 Missouri Retired Teachers Association and Public School Personnel (MRTA). Others present were Phyllis Dannar, president of the Atchison-Holt Unit of MRTA, and Merylan Lowrey, an Atchison-Holt Unit member.
MRTF was created in 2001 by the Board of Directors of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association. It is a not-for-profit organization incorporated under the State of Missouri and approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) public charity. The foundation is devoted to raising funds to carry out certain charitable, educational, scientific, and literary purposes of MRTA.
MRTF awards a minimum of 112 grants a year. Eight are awarded to Region 1 which includes Mound City, Nodaway-Holt, South Holt, Craig, Fairfax, Tarkio, and Rock Port, plus other school districts. Visit https://mortf.com/grants/apply-for-grant/ for more information.
