David Edward Silkett, age 74, Pahrump, Nevada, formerly from Tarkio, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly in Eugene, Oregon on September 9, 2020. David was born in South Bend, Indiana, in 1946. His family moved to Calumet City, Illinois, then to Lansing, Illinois. David graduated from Thornton Fractional South High School in Lansing in 1964. In 1966 David joined the U.S. Navy and was attached to the 74th Fighter Squadron based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia. David was on three different aircraft carriers, the last being the JFK in the South China Sea off the coast of Vietnam. David was honorably discharged in 1969. David’s rank was E5 Petty Officer. He served in the naval reserves until 1971. David did different types of jobs, but his favorite was an over the road truck driver. Driving enabled him to look at the countryside, which he did until he retired at age 71 due to health issues. David was also in the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, was an Eagle Scout, and an Assistant Scout Master.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mildred Silkett; his second wife, Penelope Bailey Silkett; and third wife, Beverly Silkett.

He is survived by his only brother Jim (Tammy) Silkett, and his two nieces, Samantha and Jamie, all of Fairfax, Missouri. He also had second cousins scattered in Missouri, Iowa, California, Minnesota, and Montana. David had a heart of gold, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He will not be forgotten.

Graveside service and inurnment will be held Thursday, October 1, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Fairfax, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
