Devon Sons, Atchison County Deputy Sheriff, was the guest speaker at the October 6 Tarkio Rotary Club meeting. He shared with the Rotarians alarming statistics regarding internet safety. 40 percent of kids in grades 4-8 reported they connected or chatted online with a stranger. Of these over half reported that they gave the stranger their phone number and 11 percent met the stranger in their own home, the stranger’s home or in a park, mall or restaurant. Nearly half of teens claim their parents do nothing to monitor their devices.
