The first quarter of the 2020-21 school year is in the books and we are thankful to have been in-person for those days! A special thank you to parents, students, and staff on your support with the measures we have in place. Looking ahead, we have a few events at the end of the month that will look a little different this year.

We will have Fall Festival classroom parties and crafts on October 29. Parents can send treats with children or drop off at the office but will not be able to stay for the classroom parties. We will not be dressing up this year to parade around the elementary. We do have Red Ribbon Week that same week with dress-up days so students still have the opportunity to express themselves in other ways. Hopefully a more normal school year is within our future.

Speaking of Red Ribbon Week, it will be held October 26-30. This year’s theme is “Be Happy, Be Brave, Be Drug Free” and the dress-up day ideas are courtesy of the elementary student council. Monday is “Follow Your Dreams, Don’t Do Drugs” (wear pajamas), Tuesday is “Give Drugs the Boot” (wear western clothing), Wednesday is “Be a Hero” (wear favorite super hero gear), and Thursday is “Be a Rock Star” (wear rock-n-roll gear).

Our parent-teacher conferences will be held October 28, 3:30-7:00 p.m., and October 29, 12:30-3:30 p.m. This year we are asking both the teacher and parent to wear a mask and that no additional family members attend the conference unless it is a student-led conference. If this will not work for your family, please contact your child’s teacher to schedule a virtual or phone conference. We are looking forward to the time together to celebrate first quarter successes and focus areas for continued growth.
