Ernie Greene, the son of Granville William and Lois (Kirkpatrick) Greene, was born August 27, 1936, in Grandriver, Iowa. Ernie attended Kellerton High School, Kellerton, Iowa, graduating in 1954. On October 5, 1954, Ernie entered the United States Army where he served his country until receiving his honorable discharge on September 25, 1957.

In January of 1958, Ernie was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Kibbe and made their home in Osceola, Iowa. They became the parents of three children, Debra, Dennis, and Diana. They later divorced. After that, Ernie met his long-life companion, Delores Fletcher. Delores passed away in 2016.

Ernie was employed by HyVee where he worked in produce and was floor manager for 20 years. He was then employed by Missouri Department of Transportation, Tarkio, where he worked numerous positions until retiring in 1993.

Ernie was a member of Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles, playing cards, and playing pool. He especially enjoyed playing Snooker at the Tarkio Nutrition Center. Ernie passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri, at the age of 84.

Besides his parents and Delores Fletcher, Ernie was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Kerrie Greene; sister, Theola (Richard) Lesan; sister-in-law, Marie Greene; and nephew, Rick Lesan. Survivors include children, Debbie (Rick) Riley, Tarkio, Dennis Greene, Richmond, Kansas, and Diana (John) Whittington, Tarkio; grandchildren, Sara (John) McFarland, Molly (Jon) Pearson, Nicole (Lloyd) Holl, Tressa (Kory) Whittington and Kayla (Tim) Evelhoch; three step grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Lily McFarland, Kaeson and Korbyn Holl, Holden and Elsie Pearson, and Jax and Quin Evelhoch; nine step great-grandchildren; brother, Henry Greene, VanCoover, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service and interment were held Monday, November 30, 2020, at Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Memorials may be directed to Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199 or Tarkio Nutrition Center.
