Gertrude F. Johnson, the daughter of George Henry and Nellie L. (Hoover) Fahseler, was born August 3, 1922, in Rock Port, Missouri. She had eight sisters and two brothers. Gertrude attended Rock Port schools.

In 1939, Gertrude was united in marriage to Oscar William “Bill” Johnson in Maryville, Missouri. They made their home in Rock Port and later moved to Tarkio, Missouri, where Gertrude lived until the present time. They became the parents of five children: Jerry, Teddy, Shirley, Barbara, and Billy Joe.

Gertrude was a homemaker. She also cleaned houses, and worked for Henry Field Nursery, and Imperial Chemical in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Gertrude was of the Lutheran faith. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and cooking for their large family gatherings. Gertrude loved to fish, camp, and . . .  oh yes . . . play Bingo at the casino where she usually won. One of her nephews nicknamed her “Ramblin.” (Not sure where that came from but she loved it.)

Bill passed away November 19, 1981. Gertrude lived in her own home until passing away Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 98.

Besides her parents and husband, Bill, Gertrude was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry W. Johnson and Billy Joe Johnson; grandson, Michael Johnson; great-grandchildren, Amanda Sue Johnson, Misty Bywater; great-great-grandchildren, Nickales Bywater and Andrew Ty Schebaum; and siblings, Eva Baker, Glenda Baker, Virginia Lacy-Edwards, Blanch Oldham Roach, Lorene Strange, Betty Huff, Vera Bright, John Henry Fahseler, and Donald Fahseler. (Sharon) Johnson, Farragut, Iowa, Shirley Schebaum, Farragut, and Barbara (Junior) Hines, Tarkio; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and sister, Mary Saunders, Leavenworth, Kansas.
