Betty Jeanne Macrander peacefully passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020, in Macon, Missouri, where she had lived the past two years.
Betty Jeanne was born on September 7, 1929, to Ira and Esther (Burch) Mozingo in Maryville, Missouri. She spent her early years on the family farm, near the Atchison/Nodaway County line. After graduating from Westboro High School, Westboro, Missouri, she married Emmett Macrander, son of Todd and Mary Macrander, at the Westboro Methodist Church in 1948. Together, they raised five children.
Betty enjoyed working in the healthcare setting, employed many years at the community hospitals in both Fairfax, Missouri, and Hamburg, Iowa. She also owned and operated her own beauty shop in Elmo, Missouri. Betty was happiest on the back of a horse or with a dog on her lap.
Betty is survived by her five children, Rhonda (Jim) Schutz, West Richland, Washington, Valerie (Don) Darst, Moberly, Missouri, A. Michael (Ginger) Macrander, Gig Harbor, Washington, Lori (Nathan) Hudgins, Houston, Texas, and Leah (Sean) Kilkenny, Kansas City, Missouri. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many cherished friendships.
The family would like to express gratitude for the kindness extended by Loch Haven Senior Living and Samaritan Hospital, Macon. A graveside service and interment was held Friday, December 4, 2020, at Center Grove Cemetery, Westboro. Rev. Julie Sanders officiated. Memorials may be directed to Paw Prints (a fund set up at Farmers State Bank in Tarkio, Missouri, used for animals in need in Atchison County), or Center Grove Cemetery, Westboro.
