Stephen L. Shaw, the son of Wilford James and Catherine Isabell (Hammond) Shaw, was born October 14, 1942, in Red Oak, Iowa. Stephen graduated from Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri, in 1962.

On February 13, 1964, Stephen entered the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam era in France. He received his honorable discharge on February 9, 1966, and returned to Tarkio.

Stephen was united in marriage to Linda Patterson and became the parents of one daughter, Peggy. They later divorced. In January of 1990, Stephen was united in marriage to Brenda Shaw and they made their home in Rock Port, Missouri.

Stephen was employed by Missouri Beef Packers and Excel, both of Phelps City, Missouri. Because of Stephen’s ill health, he was forced to retire early. Stephen was a humble and caring husband. For many years, he faithfully cared for his wife, Brenda, before she passed away in September of this year. Stephen passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 78.

Stephen was a member of The Church of God, Tarkio. He enjoyed making crafts and creating wooden yard art for flea markets.

Besides his parents and wife, Brenda, Stephen was preceded in death by daughter, Peggy Shaw; brother and sister-in-law, Harry (Susie) Shaw; and father-in-law, Everett Shaw. Survivors include brothers-in-law, Rick (Lori) Shaw, Rock Port, Albert Shaw, Fairfax, Barton Shaw, Rock Port, and Fred Rouse, Rock Port; sister-in-law, Mary Rouse, Watson, Missouri; mother-in-law, Deloris Shaw, Tarkio; nieces and nephews, Louis, Brenda, Patty, Harry, Mandy, Amber, Kara, and Andy; close family friends, Debbie Hurst and James Phillips; and his precious puppy dog, Corby.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 4, 2020, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, conducted by Pastor Beau Armstrong. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery, Rock Port. Military rites were conducted under the auspices of Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port. Memorials may be directed to Minter Funeral Chapel for final expenses.
