Hazel Lingerfelt Kemerling, the daughter of Harry and Maggie (Trotter) Callaway, was born December 5, 1937, in Rushville, Missouri. Hazel attended Lafayette High School, St. Joseph, Missouri, graduating in 1955.

In 1955, Hazel was united in marriage to Lee Roy Lingerfelt, Sr. in Rock Port, Missouri. They became the parents of four children, Victoria, Lee Roy, Jr., Kelly, and Quint. They later divorced. On December 4, 1998, Hazel was united in marriage to Red Kemerling in Rock Port.

In the 1970s, Hazel owned and operated The Swing Inn drive in restaurant and The Top Kick Truck Stop, Rock Port. In the 1990s, she leased and operated The Walnut Inn in Tarkio, Missouri. For 21 years, she sold fireworks for Mike’s Firework in Rock Port.

Hazel was a member of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Auxiliary, Tarkio, and Rock Port Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, and collecting ceramic animals. Hazel also loved traveling, doing needlework, and Croquet. Hazel passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 83.

Besides her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by children, Lee Roy Lingerfelt, Jr. and Kelly Rae Goodman. Survivors include husband, Red Kemerling, Tarkio; children, Victoria Molthan, Tarkio, and Quint (Ronda) Lingerfelt, Rock Port; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service and interment were held Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Center Grove Cemetery, Westboro, Missouri. Memorials may be directed to Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199 or Allen-Schiffern American Legion Auxiliary, Tarkio. Online condolences may be left at www.minterfuneralchapels.com.
