The upbeat Christmas music performed at the concert moved these two toddlers to get up and dance along.

The Tarkio R-I 4th through 12th grade music students performed their Christmas concert Monday, December 14, 2020, in the Tarkio High School Gym.

The youngest students started the evening off by performing “The Nutcracker Suite,” a mini-musical based on Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet with music by P.I. Tchaikovsky and arranged with new lyrics by S.K. Albrecht. The students performed the: “Overture” (with speakers Nikoli Vassar, Ceanna Caldwell, Luke Gebhards, Star Hankins, Wyatt Landess, Annalee Livengood, Easton Madron, Shaylon McNaughton, Maddox Pearson, and Jax Peregrine); “March” (with speakers Sophia Riley, Jaden Scott, Emily Smith, Macy Stepp, Conner Thomas, Karsyn White, and Kelsey Avrett, “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” (with speakers Treyton Brown and Rhoni Caudill); “Russian Dance, ‘Trepak’” (with speakers Damon Drummond and Psymira Foss); “Arab Dance” (with speakers Treyvin Lester and Savanna Lindsay); “Chinese Dance” (with speaker Kaiden Nelson); “Dance of the Reed Flutes” (with speakers Ben Rolf, Axyl Slemp, and Azlynn Wiley); and “Waltz of the Flowers” (with speaker Braylynn Wood). Fourth grade choir members include Alegra Broderick, MaKenna Caudill, Mystress Foss, Bentlee Gladman, Grayson Masonbrink, Xander Moore, Emma Navin, Raelynn Sachs, Brilee Slemp, Teagan Taylor, Michael Vance, Owen Vette, Trevon Begay, Keely Bredensteiner, Leila Brooks, Aiden Erickson, Vivi Hale, Kinsley Merriweather, Caroline Powell, Josh Schlueter, Caleb Smith, and Gracie Walker. The 5th graders also performed “Jingle Bells” on their recorders.

The 6th grade band performed “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “Old MacDonald Had A Band,” “Ode to Joy (From Symphony No. 9),” “Hard Rock Blues,” and “Let’s Go Band (Ditty).” The 6th grade choir sang “Winter Sun/Winter Fun” and “Just Chillin’.” The 6th grade band and choir members include: flutes – Danika Agnew, Destiny Begay, Beth Clark, Dezzy Kimpston, Bailey Wennihan, and Delainee White; alto saxophones – Jeremy Bomar, Velicity Hegstrom, Danni Irvine, and Chase Pearson; clarinets – Kambry Bullock; trumpets – Teahen Hannah, Dalton Hogue, Finn Hurst, Parker Livengood, and Anakin Wake; trombones – Bella Bywater, Aiden Jimenez, Gavin Mattice, Aubrey Sachs, and Matthew Vance; and percussion – Grace Caudill and Brody Wennihan.
