Dennis D. Douglass, the son of Lawrence and Vera (Cuddeback) Douglass, was born August 5, 1947, in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Dennis attended Grand Island High School, Grand Island, Nebraska, graduating in 1966. On July 18, 1967, Dennis entered the United States Army, serving his country for three years and receiving his honorable discharge on March 17, 1970.

Dennis then attended Central Nebraska Tech School, Hastings, Nebraska, graduating in 1972 with a Diesel Mechanic degree. In May of 1972, Dennis was united in marriage to Margaruite Lammers and they made their home in Kearney, Nebraska. They became the parents of three children, Crystal, Kevrin, and JaWayne. They later divorced.

Following graduation from tech school, Dennis was employed by Rockwell as a painter, and by Eaton Corporation, both in Kearney. Later, he was employed by Bosselmen Truck Stop, Grand Island, where he worked as a night parts clerk. While working at Bossselmen, Dennis received employee of the month in December of 2002. He retired in 2014.

Dennis was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Kearney. He was also an enthusiastic member of Parents Without Partners, a support group for single parents and their children. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and especially loved fishing in his kayak around the Grand Island area. Dennis passed away January 5, 2021, in Rock Port, Missouri, at the age of 73.

Besides his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by son, Kevrin Douglass; grandson, Clayton Herron; siblings, Freda Hagman, Leila Wempen, Jerold Douglass, Alvin Douglass, Leslie Douglass, and Janice Hendrickson; and stepfather, Leonard Folchert. Survivors include children, Crystal (Todd) Herron, Rock Port, and JaWayne Douglass, Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jaimie Frerichs, twins, Michael and Marccus Allen Douglass, RyAnne, Corwyn, Brentyn, and Jaymes Herron; great-grandchild, Ryker Frerichs; brother, Vance Douglass; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Judy Malone, Eustis, Nebraska.
