The Tarkio/Fairfax/Westboro Food Pantry board met January 12, 2021, with 11 members present. Churches represented were Methodist, Fairfax; Baptist, Church of God, First Christian and Presbyterian, Tarkio; and Methodist and St. John’s Lutheran, Westboro.
In November, 105 in-dividuals representing 50 households were served. In December, 123 individuals representing 61 households were assisted.
Clients are reminded of the inclement weather policy. If area schools are closed due to inclement weather, the food pantry will also be closed. If schools have a 10:00 a.m. late start due to inclement weather, the food pantry will also open at 10:00 a.m. and remain open until 12:00 noon.
Items that are currently needed include cans of vegetable beef soup, sugar, scalloped or au gratin boxed potatoes and chicken helper. Monetary donations are always appreciated.
Several volunteers from the communities have stepped forward to assist in opening the food pantry. The help that has been offered has done much to assist the board to continue to keep the pantry open. These volunteers will open the pantry in January. The Fairfax Methodist Church will open the pantry in February. The pantry is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. the third and fourth weeks of each month. On the third Tuesday, the pantry is also open in the evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The next board meeting will be Tuesday, March 9, at 9:30 a.m. The food pantry is located at 315 Main Street in Tarkio.
