• It was announced that the deal between James Noe and Everett Kelley, the owner of Kelley Hardware, fell through and the store remains the property of Everett Kelley.

• A turkey dinner was given Sunday at the Harry K. Bunny home in honor of O’Neil Miles, recently returned from overseas.

• Albert Kemerling has purchased the residence property of Mrs. Henry Hathorne in southeast Fairfax. Mr. Kemerling’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Kemerling, will move to the place to make their home. Floyd Showalter has bought the Rex Steffey 80 acres, six miles south and one mile east of Fairfax. Mr. and Mrs. Showalter will improve the property and make their home there.

• Paula J. O’Riley, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul O’Riley, has been named 1971 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow for Fairfax High School. She was chosen on the basis of her score in a December 1 written knowledge and attitude examination for which 650,000 senior girls through the country were enrolled.

• The famous Blackwood Brothers singing group will present a program of gospel music at the Rock Port High School Auditorium Tuesday, February 23. The presentation is under the auspices of the Rock Port Christian Church Choir. A group famous since 1934, it will offer a wide variety of entertainment.

• Kerr’s Super Market in Fairfax is advertising: hams, whole or shank half, only 49¢ per pound; Kraft Thousand Island liquid salad dressing, pint jar for only 65¢; Soflin 2-ply toilet tissue (10-roll package), 77¢; and one-size fits all panty hose, 63¢ per pair.

• Over the Back Fence by Nancy Gaines: “I saw the neatest telephone. It quacks instead of ringing or buzzing. Earl David received the duck telephone for Christmas. He is an avid duck hunter and the telephone looks like a duck sitting on the water.”

• On Wednesdays, February 21 and 28, the Development Council of Community Hospital, Fairfax will conduct its 17th annual Super Sitter Training program in the elementary activity room at Craig School for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Students must attend both classes to get the full benefit and to receive a certificate of attendance.
