Thomas E. “Ted” Harmon, Rock Port, Missouri, was born in Hamburg, Iowa, on September 23, 1942. He was the only child of Paul Edward and Elizabeth Joy “Betty” (Rash) Harmon.

Ted graduated from Rock Port High School and attended Highland College. He served in the United States Army Reserves.

Ted’s first job was working for George Chamberlain at the Enterprise Manufacturing Company. He later worked at Missouri Beef Packers and Farmer’s Insurance. Ted then started the Harmon Truck Insurance Company, a Rock Port Main Street fixture for many years.

On March 20, 1965, he married Nancy Susan “Sam” Kotsores and they became parents of one son, Britt.

Ted loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. As a child he raised two golden eagles until they were mature enough to release. He made 12 big game hunting trips to Africa, and also shared hunting with Ted Nugent. Ted started the Carp 1 fishing tournament, and held wild game feeds. He took several youth with him on hunting trips to Africa, New Zealand, Texas, and Wyoming. His greatest passion was hunting Snow Geese, where you could find him in his “Duckster.”

Ted passed away on March 1, 2021, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Sam, of their home; and son and daughter-in-law, Britt and Natalie Harmon, Rock Port.
