The Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry Board met Tuesday, March 9, 2021, with 11 members present. Churches represented were: Fairfax – Methodist; Tarkio – Baptist, Church of God, and First Christian; and Westboro – Methodist and St. John’s Lutheran.
Newly elected president, Anne Barnett, presided over the meeting. In January, 92 individuals representing 45 households were served. In February, 67 individuals representing 42 households were assisted.
Items that are currently needed include jelly in plastic containers (no glass), toilet paper, Sunny D juice, flour, and sugar. Monetary donations are always appreciated as the money allows the shelves to be stocked with the items that are most needed. The board has been most appreciative of all those that assisted in opening the food pantry during the difficult winter months we experienced this year.
The Westboro Methodist Church will open the food pantry in March. The Fairfax Baptist and Christian Churches will open the pantry in April. The pantry is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., the third and fourth weeks of each month. On the third Tuesday, the pantry is also open in the evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The next board meeting will be Tuesday, May 11, at 9:30 a.m. The food pantry is located at 315 Main Street in Tarkio.
