The words “In God We Trust” are displayed on each of the trucks driven by the Atchison County Sheriff’s Department. The lettering is made possible through private donations.
IN GOD WE TRUST
Have you noticed the logo on the back of our Atchison County Sheriff Department vehicles? “IN GOD WE TRUST”? I have, and I want them to know my appreciation and recognition for the commitment of our Atchison County Sheriff and Deputies. There is no better time than now to proudly display our national motto. Police officers and their families need hope and encouragement, just like you and me. I wondered how many of us appreciate the statement on our county vehicles.
Our very own State of Missouri Constitution Preamble reads: “We the people of Missouri, with profound reference for the Supreme Ruler of the Universe, and grateful for His goodness, do establish this constitution for the better government of the state: Article l. Section 5 reads: “That all men have a natural and indefeasible right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of their own consciences”. The positive aspect to the role of government is promoting good and protecting peace. Peace is an essential desire of humanity.
My friend, Karen Thornton at the Lake of the Ozarks, recently talked with Sunrise Beach Chief of Police, Jeff Campbell, about the phrase, “In God We Trust” on the back of all police vehicles. Chief Campbell stated his personal statement of faith was Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the children of God”.
During these trying times, we need to salute and thank our sheriff, deputies and police officers for helping keep the peace and protecting us from evil. When you see an officer, thank them for their service. May God bless and protect them as they perform their duties.
