Atchison County Clerk Susette Taylor was elected president of the Missouri Association of Counties (MAC) for 2021 during the association’s first-ever virtual business meeting in November. Taylor has held various positions with the association since 2008, including district director, at-large director, executive officer, and was the president of the Missouri Association of County Clerks and Election Authorities Association. She assumed her new position with MAC on January 1, 2021.

“As our communities face another difficult year, we as county-elected officials need to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our citizens, as well as being fiscally responsible with taxpayer funds,” MAC President-Elect Susette Taylor said. “Every year, counties across Missouri keep absorbing additional duties that are put forth by the State’s General Assembly without the proper financial support to carry out those duties. As the next president of this great association, I will continue the rich tradition of our former presidents by making the voices of our members heard in the Capitol.”

More than 200 MAC members attended the virtual meeting on November 23, 2020. The association also held the annual business meetings of the County Commissioners Association of Missouri and MAC Trust during the one-day event. The support from sponsors this year allowed the conference to be free to members and allowed members who registered for the event to access video sessions and meetings at any time into 2021.

Along with the election of a new president, MAC members also elected the following county-elected officials to serve as executive officers for the upcoming year: Steve Hobbs, President-Elect, Audrain County Presiding Commissioner; Batina Dodge, 2nd Vice President, Scotland County Clerk; Lori Smith, 3rd Vice President, Adair County Treasurer; Pete Frazier, Treasurer, Cape Girardeau County Auditor Pete Frazier; Phil Rogers, Past President, Andrew County Collector.
