The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting April 14, 2021. The meeting was called to order by Michael Oswald, alderman, at 6:24 p.m. Also in attendance were: Kristi Duering, Tabitha Wintz, Beth Graves, and Debra Wyatt, Aldermen; John Brown, Water Superintendent; Lori Helfers, City Clerk; and Danny Kemerling, Treasurer. Ryan Kingery, Mayor, joined the meeting at 6:40 p.m.
The tentative agenda was approved.

Beth Graves left the meeting at 6:45 p.m.
The aldermen approved the minutes of the March 12 regular meeting. They also approved accounts payable.
New Business
A short discussion was held on the American Rescue Plan. Information was given out to each council member. Lori will continue to stay in touch with Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments. Updates will be given as more information becomes available.
The last phase for the buzzards in the park will be going into place. A pulley system has been placed in the tree and the city is waiting to hear from the Missouri Department of Conservation. This will not be a guarantee that it will get rid of the buzzards.
Discussion was held concerning several different complaints about dogs running loose, kids in the park, and recreational vehicles in the park and on the city streets. Several ideas and concerns were raised by the council with everyone’s safety being the number one priority. Lori was asked to contact Sheriff Dennis Martin and ask him to attend May’s city council meeting.
Staff Reports
Danny Kemerling presented his treasurer’s report showing that all accounts are in balance.
Lori Helfers gave an update on the CDBG grant. It is looking like the applications for the CDBG grant will be due in June or July. Jerri Dearmont with Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments will keep them updated. City-wide clean-up day and city-wide garage sales will be the weekend of April 30. Dumpsters will be available for residents of Fairfax to use.
John Brown reported that he’s getting updated quotes for cleaning the water tower this year. This is something that has to be done every five years according to DNR. There is a discount if Fairfax schedules theirs to be cleaned the same time as Craig.
The next meeting is Wednesday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m.
