Our state assessments, elementary track day, and awards day are a few upcoming events that signal the end of a school year is near. As we approach these final weeks I am thankful we are able to participate in these and many other events while in school!

Preschool and Kindergarten Round-Up Day was held on Friday, April 30. I always enjoy watching the excitement and wonder on their faces as they enter the classroom for the first time. Step-Up Day for current elementary students will be on Friday, May 14. Students will find out who their classroom teacher is for next year. Supply lists for the 2021-22 school year will be sent home that day as well.

Students are finishing up with the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests this week. Students in grades 3-6 take math and reading assessments each year, grade 5 also takes a science assessment. The MAP tests provide a snapshot of academic achievement at the end of the year based on grade level expectations. While we strive to give our best effort on the tests, we try to keep in mind there are many other areas of equal importance in a student’s life that cannot be measured on a standardized test.

Our elementary track day is set for Tuesday, May 11. Grades 3-4 will compete starting at 8:30 a.m. at beautiful Blue Jay Stadium; grades 5-6 will start at 12:30 p.m. Parents and families are invited to attend. The concession stand will not be open so pack your snacks and drinks for the day. Our K-2 Fun Day is scheduled for the afternoon of Friday, May 14, at the school. A special thank you to our PTO organization for hosting the event. Volunteers are always welcome to help run the activity stations, please contact the school if interested.

We will cap off the school year with our awards assemblies on Tuesday, May 18, in the south gym. Grades 5-6 will be at 8:30-9:30 a.m., grades 3-4 at 9:40-10:25 a.m., and grades 1-2 at 10:35-11:20 a.m. Parents and families are invited to attend the assemblies to recognize these wonderful student achievements.
