
Virgil Eugene Caudill, age 86, passed peacefully on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at his home with his children and family by his side.
Virgil was born March 24, 1935, in Ongo, Missouri, in Douglas County to James Orbin and Mary Emmalee (Britten) Caudill.
Virgil was a member of Local Union 101, Operating Engineers. He was a heavy equipment operator for most of his life. He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.
On June 12, 1954, Virgil and Doris J. Keever were united in marriage in Nodaway County, Missouri, and from this union they were blessed with eight children. In later years on March 17, 1978, Virgil and Deanna Stoddard were united in marriage in Craig, Missouri, and were blessed with three children.
Virgil enjoyed trading, hunting, fishing, collecting, and being with his family and especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; his five siblings, Beulah Caudill, Esther Hosey, Freida Mae Rowe, Glenn Caudill, and Marvin Caudill; and great-grandchildren, Kian Garrett and Joshua Wooten. He is survived by his 11 children and their spouses, Debra Willis, Dennis and Cyndy Caudill, Sue Garms, Cindy and Bob Heck, Kathy and Chuck Miller, Pam and Garold Dabler, John Caudill, Steve Caudill, Sarah and Jason Long, Scott and Sarah Caudill, and Desmond Caudill; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Delmar Caudill, Kenneth Caudill, Leon Caudill, and Louise Rippee; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 24, 2021, in the Clinkingbeard Chapel in Ava, Missouri, followed by the burial in the Ava Cemetery. Reverend Oren Alcorn officiated the service. Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
