The Community Hospital Auxiliary met July 15, 2021. President Merylan Lowrey called the meeting to order with 22 members and two guests reciting the Auxiliary Prayer.

W.C. Farmer from the Atchison County Mail took a group picture to commemorate our 50th anniversary of being an auxiliary.

Jan Taylor read the secretary’s report and Ann Martin gave the treasurer’s report. Marilyn Alldredge moved to approve both reports as read, Sue Carder seconded, and the motion carried.

The Scholarship Committee announced that two $500 scholarships will be awarded this year, one to Shelbie Gaines Graham and the other to Tacy Mitchell.

The auxiliary is selling raffle tickets for a Dell laptop computer instead of our annual quilt to be given away at the Fairfax Fair. The tickets are $5.00 each or three for $10.00. You can purchase tickets from any auxiliary member, at the Sunshine Corner Gift Shop, or at the Fairfax Fair prior to the drawing on Saturday night. The auxiliary is grateful for the generosity of Midwest Data Center for donating the computer to our organization.

The auxiliary is celebrating 50 years of being an organization and helping support our local hospital. Marilyn Alldredge, one of our charter members, and Merylan Lowrey, our current president, will be riding in the Fairfax Fair. We will also have an open house reception Sunday, October 10, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the Fairfax Community Room. We welcome anyone in our area communities to come and help us celebrate our 50-year anniversary!

Robin Salfrank announced our Auxilian of the Year for 2021. She presented Jan Taylor with a beautiful flower arrangement and a plaque. Jan will also be honored by riding in the Fairfax Fair parade.

We will not have a regular meeting in August, but we welcome anyone who might be interested in joining our organization to join us September 16 at 1:30 p.m. at the hospital in the conference room.
