The Rock Port Tourism Board met Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at Rock Port City Hall. Members present were Holly Huntley, Mike Farmer, Tami Lansdown, Angela Mace, and Jody VanSickle. Also present was City Clerk Emily Schulte.

Holly called the meeting to order.

The meeting agenda was approved.

Board members also approved the July 15, 2021, meeting minutes and the July 2021 financials.

Prospective board members were discussed. Applications are available at City Hall.

The wind turbine site agreement will be put on hold. It was determined it is too late in the mowing season to begin a contract now. The ad will be published again in November for a term beginning in and renewing every January.

The light pole banners have been ordered.

A sample of the Christmas decorations was requested for the designs selected and it was determined they won’t work on the city light poles. The search for décor that the poles can accommodate will begin again.

The youth portion of the logo contest has been delayed, but will resume shortly. Mike is setting up a Crowd Spring account for the official portion of the contest.

Different options of website builds by Municode were discussed. Board members approved a standard website design with the business directory add-on and first year hosting for $8,250.00 and a second year of hosting and the annual business directory fee of $2,700.00, for a total of $10,950.00.

Tami will be checking with the Health Department for their guidance on the quilt show this fall considering the increasing COVID numbers. Tami feels that asking to utilize school property for the event is no longer appropriate, given the amount of disinfecting the school would be responsible for. The Memorial Building is available October 30. Another option is to wait until spring.

The ball drop for Old Fashioned Saturday Night was discussed. The event has been cancelled the past two years, it was decided that each ball will be worth $1.00 this year instead of the normal 25¢. Old Fashioned Saturday Night will take place September 18.

The next meeting will be held September 9, 2021, at 6:00 p.m.

The meeting was then adjourned.
