The East Atchison Wolves traveled to Blue Jay Stadium Friday night, September 24, to take on Rock Port.
To start the game Rock Port kicked off to the Wolves. There would be a short return giving the Wolves the ball on their 11 yard line. With a couple of big runs by Kaylin Merriweather and a quick pass to Jarrett Spinnato the Wolves moved the ball down to the Jays’ 20 yard line before quarterback Josh Smith hit Braden Graves for the first score. Merriweather’s two point conversion was good making the score 8-0 Wolves.
Dakota Evans would give Rock Port good field position following the kick-off at the 27 yard line. With a big run by Micah Makings and big reception by Phillip Herron the Jays moved the ball down to the EA 15 yard line before turning it over on downs. Three plays later Jarrett Spinnato would take it 58 yards for the touchdown. Two point conversion failed bringing the score to 14-0 Wolves.
The next series of plays did not go in Rock Port’s favor as there was a missed hand-off. The Wolves sacked Aidan Burke for a big loss causing a fumble and giving the Wolves the ball on the one yard line. Kaylin Merriweather punched it in for six more points. The PAT was no good making the score 20-0 Wolves.
From that point on Rock Port was unable to generate much in the way of offense as Jarrett Spinnato intercepted a pass to give the Wolves the ball on the Blue Jay 30 yard line. Spinnato would then punch a three yard run in for six. The Smith to Graves two-point conversion was good making the score 28-0 Wolves. The combination of Merriweather and Spinnato would go on to score three more times before half, bringing the final score to 48-0 Wolves.
East Atchison moves to 5-0 and will play Mound City at Tarkio this Friday. Rock Port picks up their first lesson the season moving to 4-1. The Jays will travel to King City Friday night.
