Community Hospital- Fairfax Auxiliary met October 21, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. President Merylan Lowrey called the meeting to order with 11 members and one guest present and all reciting the Auxiliary Prayer. Jan read the secretary’s report for the September 16 meeting. Ann gave the treasurer’s report. Both reports were approved as presented.
Committee Reports
• Sunshine Cororner Gift Shop news – Marilyn Alldredge sent a report thanking everyone for all of the help and the good food provided for our 50 year celebration.
• The Membership Committee announced that all dues have been collected for the year.
• The Quilt Committee reported on the status of our vintage Victorian sampler quilt that was donated back to the auxiliary. The auxiliary is raffling it off again. It will be a nice keepsake for someone who has ties to the members who made the quilt back in 1994 or anyone who collects quilts. So far, the auxiliary has collected $32.00 for the raffle. A copy of the original newspaper clipping from the first time the quilt was raffled is in the gift shop and the quilt is on display outside of the gift shop. The drawing will be held on December 7. You may purchase your raffle tickets from any member or at the Sunshine Corner Gift Shop.
Old Business
• The Auxiliary 50 year celebration was very nice and we are thankful for the 52 people who attended and celebrated with us. The Auxiliary also extends thanks to Robin Salfrank, Julie Jones and the hospital for providing the beautiful centerpiece and a nice corsage for each of the members.
New Business
• Members voted to purchase a marble bench with memorial funds that had been previously approved by the families. The bench will be placed outside the hospital with a plaque inscribed with the names of those being remembered.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:05 p.m.
The Auxiliary is looking forward to the following events and invites anyone with an interest in supporting our local hospital and county health care to join us at any/or all of our events. The profits from all of our fund-raising events goes toward the purchase of needed equipment for the hospital.
• November 18 – Next Auxiliary meeting at 1:30 p.m. in the Hospital Conference Room. It is also Shop Atchison County Day. Please visit us in the Sunshine Corner Gift Shop from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
• November 23 – Bake sale in the Hospital Conference Room (6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)
• December 2, 3, and 6 – 20% off sale at the gift shop for members of the auxiliary and hospital staff. Members and staff will receive a gift shop coupon.
• December 8 – Poinsettia sale in the hospital conference room (6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). Different colors of poinsettias will be available and also a few Christmas cactuses.
