There were four new COVID-19 cases  reported to the Atchison County Health Department from October 18-24, 2021. They include the following:

1 male – age 0-9

1 female – age 20-29

1 male – age 30-39

1 male – age 80+

As of October 24, 2021, a total of 686 cases and 17 deaths have been reported in the county. There are currently four active cases. There are two active COVID-19 hospitalizations in our local hospital. Atchison County’s current 7-day testing positivity rate is 5.45%.

The Atchison County Health Department is gathering data to determine the number of known breakthrough cases for Atchison County since vaccines were first made available late last year.  Vaccine breakthrough infection is defined as the detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA or antigen in a respiratory specimen collected from a person 14 or more days after they have completed all recommended doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. There have been 77 breakthrough cases in Atchison County as of October 24, 2021. Fully vaccinated persons as of October 23, 2021, total 2,483. To date, 3.1% of fully vaccinated persons in Atchison County have tested positive for COVID-19 and are considered to be breakthrough cases.

COVID-19 booster shots are administered anywhere the COVID-19 vaccine is available. Vaccines can be found in Atchison County at the following locations:

On Monday, October 25, 2021, the Atchison County Health Department started taking appointments for booster doses for Moderna, Pfizer and Janssen/J&J.
