The total number of cases of COVID-19 in Atchison County is 693 as of October 31, 2021. The Atchison County Health Department reported seven cases from October 25-31, 2021. They include:

1 female, age 0-9

1 female, age 10-19

1 female, age 20-29

1 male, age 30-39

1 male, age 40-49

2 females, ages 70-79

There are six active cases, and there have been 17 deaths. There are no active COVID-19 hospitalizations in our local hospital.

Atchison County’s current seven-day testing positivity rate is 8.0%.

BREAKTHROUGH CASES

The health department continues to gather data to determine the number of known breakthrough cases for Atchison County since vaccines were first made available late last year. Vaccine breakthrough infection is defined as the detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA or antigen in a respiratory specimen collected from a person 14 or more days after they have completed all recommended doses of a COVID-19 vaccine

As of October 31, 2021, there are 2,511 fully vaccinated persons in Atchison County and there have been 79 breakthrough cases.

To date, 3.1% of fully vaccinated persons in Atchison County have tested positive for COVID-19 and are considered to be breakthrough cases.

BOOSTER SHOTS

COVID-19 booster shots are administered anywhere the COVID-19 vaccine is available. Vaccines can be found in Atchison County at the following locations:

On Monday, October 25, 2021, the Atchison County Health Department started taking appointments for booster doses for Moderna, Pfizer and Janssen/J&J.

COVID-19 TESTING

Atchison County Health Department continues to have COVID-19 antigen testing by appointment Monday through Thursday. Hours available for testing: Monday – Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.. Call 660-736-4121 to make an appointment.

Community Hospital-Fairfax offers COVID testing Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  Call 660-686-2211 to register.

Atchison County Health Department has flu vaccine available for children and adults.
