Rock Port preschool students visited Pleasant View for trick or treating.

Pleasant View had themed dress-up days to kick off Halloween. Staff and residents dressed up and the residents voted on “best dressed” for that day. Everyone wore their pajamas to work on Mopey Monday and the winner was Jeanne Wallace. Brenda Hughes and Dinky got the most votes on Twin Tuesday. (We won’t tell Brenda everyone voted for them because of Dinky.) Everyone wore crazy hair, socks and even some mismatching shoes on Wacky Wednesday! Wednesday’s winner was Stephanie Litherbury. Thursday we threw it back to our favorite decade, and the winner was Della Vanhoozer. Friday was our Halloween celebration. Everyone wore their Halloween costumes, and the residents really enjoyed seeing everyone dressed up. Riding in first place was Cheri Jackson the witch and buzzing in second was Bumble Bee Kelly.

Some Rock Port school students visited in their Halloween costumes. We prepared goodie bags for the kids and enjoyed watching them parade through the dining room. The residents talked about how much costumes have changed since they dressed up in their day. Some remember their costume consisting of what would resemble a trash bag and a mask, or making them by hand with supplies from around the house.

For lunch on Friday we enjoyed our Halloween bash with a buffet style meal. Our meal consisted of ghoulash, bloody toes, fried fingers, mummy dogs, little ‘ghost’wiches, a skeleton tray, creepy cupcakes, voodoo fondue, and melted wicked witch punch. The residents enjoyed having the buffet style meal that they could pick and choose a little of everything. Jim Frede stated “That punch is different but it’s one of the best things I’ve tasted.”
