Allen Lee Flake was born on October 7, 1951, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Virgil and Gladys Flake. He passed away from cancer on Sunday, November 7, 2021.
Allen grew up in Tarkio, Missouri, and graduated from Tarkio High School in 1969. He worked in the construction industry his entire career, which took him all over the country. Allen was talented and knowledgeable in construction from working on nuclear plants and breweries to hazardous construction waste removal to eventually having his own business building log homes in Colorado. He lived all over the country from Oregon, Washington state, Alaska and California, to Pennsylvania and back to the west coast, the island of Guam, to finally moving to Colorado to be closer to his parents.
After his building career was over, Allen loved spending time with his daughters and his grandchildren. He really never quit working, lending a hand where needed in helping Michelle and Kraig with their booming business, The Block Distilling Co. in Denver, Colorado. He also loved helping Kristin with the grandkids, taking them to school and on trips for Cold Stone ice cream.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Loretta Kay Flake Walker. He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Flake Weaver and husband, Kraig, of Denver and Kristin Flake and her children, Lauren and Rylan, of Canon City, Colorado; nieces and nephew; and many other extended family members and friends.
Graveside services for Allen will be held at New Liberty Cemetery, Mound City, Missouri, at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021, followed by lunch at R/Farm Distilling Company, 16755 Highway 59, Mound City. Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Research Institute.
