Alfred “Al” Paul Eltzholtz, the son of Alfred and Rita (Fisklin) Eltzholtz, was born November 2, 1942, in Montclair, New Jersey. Al attended Montclair schools, receiving his GED in 1960.

Al entered the United States Marine Corps, serving his country for a short time, from May 31, 1960, to July 22, 1960, before being honorably discharged due to an injury.

In 1968, Al was united in marriage to Michele Butkus in Caldwell, New Jersey, and became the parents of three children, Sandra, Paul, and Cindy.

Al was in the trucking industry for many years. He drove for a handful of companies over the years and ended his driving career with the United States Post Office, where he was also the Union Shop Steward. Later, Al was employed by Food Country Grocery Store, Rock Port, Missouri, where he worked until the present time. Throughout the years, Al also had two startup companies of his own. He had a delivery business in New Jersey and Al’s Lock & Key, Rock Port.

Al enjoyed listening to 50’s and 60’s music and he loved classic cars.

Al passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 79.

Besides his parents, Al was preceded in death by his wife, Michele, and brother, Edward Eltzholtz. Survivors include children, Sandra (Michael) Donahue, Stanhope, New Jersey, Paul (Mary Paulhamus) Eltzholtz, Columbia, New Jersey, and Cindy Thomas, Rock Port; grandchildren, Christian (Paige) Hance, Matthew Hance, and Liam Donahue; great-grandchildren, Eden and Ava Hance; brother, John (Carolyn) Eltzholtz, Madison, Connecticut; sister-in-law, Margaret Eltzholtz, Nutley, New Jersey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Monday, December 13, 2021, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, conducted by Rev. Glenn Scott. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Al Eltzholtz Memorial Fund. Entombment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery and Mausoleum, East Hanover, New Jersey. Online condolences may be left at www.minterfuneralchapels.com.
