For those who do not know about Restore Rock Port, it is a 501(c)(3) organization whose purpose is to restore the aesthetics and character of the Rock Port community through rehabilitation projects. The goal is not to own property but provide the means to bring these places back to life. Members also hope to leverage volunteer assistance on clean-up projects throughout the Rock Port community, both business and residential.

Restore Rock Port has a property that is a good starting point – the former Greenley’s/Jack and Jill market located at 301 S. Main. Normally they would like to rehabilitate buildings and extend their life and use; however, due to the state of the building and the danger it  poses to the community, the best option is to tear it down in order to provide a clean slate and fresh start for the lot.

This last week Restore Rock Port  received a generous donation which has allowed them to acquire the building. This is where the community can help. They anticipate the cost of this project to be around $45,000. Restore Rock Port is looking for donations to help complete this project. Since Restore Rock Port is a 501(c)(3), gifts to the organization are tax deductible.
