Cynthia “Cindy” J. Walker, age 74, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, loving wife, mom, and grandma, passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 2021. Cindy was born April 28, 1947, in Maryville, Missouri, the only child of Charles and Jennie (Stickerod) Taylor.

She was raised and educated in Rock Port, Missouri, where she met and grew up with her husband of 53 years, Bob Walker. After high school, she and Bob attended Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri, where she earned her BA and MA in Education and Guidance. They moved to Sheldon, Iowa, in 1973 and began to raise their family of three children. In 1981, they moved to Humboldt, Iowa, and finally resided in Forest Lake since 1984. Cindy taught English in Granville, Iowa, at Spalding High School and at Hill Murray in St. Paul, Minnesota. The last 20 years of her career, she was a Guidance Counselor at Forest Lake High School and Southwest Junior High, during which time she served a term as the president of the Minnesota Guidance Counselors Association.

Cindy had many hobbies and pastimes. She had a deep love of reading. She spent her recent retirement years enjoying golfing, cooking, and vacationing in Arizona in the winters and up north on Lake Vermilion in the summers. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jennie (Stickerod) Taylor. She is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Bobbi Jo (Karl) Young, Charley, and Jeremy (Aimee); grandchildren, Taylor, Nick, Augusten “Gusto”, and Bergen “Birdie”; and other relatives and dear friends.

A celebration of Cindy’s life will take place in the spring. Her family currently respects privacy during this time.
