Highlights of the evening included a message from special guest Bo Graves. Bo recently earned the Boy Scout rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank awarded in Scouts BSA. Bo shared remarks about his experience in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts highlighting the friendships he has made and the things he has learned through his pack, troop and summer camps at Camp Geiger. Cub Scouts Owen Vette, Josh Schlueter and Xander Moore achieved their Arrow of Light rank. Arrow of Light is the highest rank awarded to Cub Scouts and signifies the end of their Cub Scout journey as they will now be recognized as Boy Scouts.
Nearly 60 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, family and friends attended a “Sleeping Bag Safari” at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo this past weekend on Friday, March 25. Attendees spent the night in the Scout Aquarium sleeping under the shark tunnel. The event started in the evening and included a night hike with a guide around a variety of zoo exhibits. After the hike, scouts settled in for a movie and then lights out at midnight. An early wake-up call was followed by a quick breakfast and one last guided hike. Scouts and families were able to stay at the zoo following the safari and explore other areas not visited during the program.
