A retirement reception was recently held for Mike Lewis of Fairfax, Missouri. Mike has retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) after 28 years of dedicated service.

Mike began his duties with MoDOT in April of 1994, working out of Rock Port, Missouri, as a Maintenance Worker. He advanced to Crew Leader and Assistant Maintenance Supervisor while there. Mike was promoted to Maintenance Supervisor in Mound City, Missouri, in 2009, where he stayed until retirement.

Mike remarked, “The industry has changed dramatically over the years with technology and equipment advancements. What hasn’t changed is the fact that there is still a need for employees who are willing to work and be committed to their job.”

Memorable moments for Mike were the floods of 2011 and 2019.  “There was so much devastation, yet so many people were willing to help those in need!”

Although Mike is retiring from MoDOT, he’s not “retiring” from working. He will be going to work for Meyerkorth Aviation in Rock Port. However, he will be able to spend more time with his grandchildren and enjoy life’s experiences.
