What turned out to be a very bad day for a Tarkio citizen could have been a lot worse if not for the quick action of some locals, as well as Tarkio Volunteer Firemen. Bryan Graham had parked his pickup beside the Tarkio Board of Public Works building on Main Street. Upon returning to his truck, there was a loud pop or explosion from the engine compartment and the front of the truck burst into flames. Local business personnel called 911 as well as provided fire extinguishers to put out the fire. Another person who just happened to be driving a skid steer near the scene pulled up and pushed the truck onto Main Street so that the flames would not catch the water company building on fire. Once out on Main Street, the truck continued to burn until the Tarkio Volunteer Fire Department responded and was able to fully extinguish the flames. Luckily, no one was injured.
