The Tarkio Elementary kindergarten, first grade, and second grade performed “The Principal and the Pea” in front of a packed auditorium of family members Wednesday, April 13, 2022. The students sang a number of songs and some said lines and even a few teachers (including Jennifer Peregrine, below) and the principal got in on the fun.

“The Principal and the Pea” was presented by Tarkio Elementary kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade students Wednesday, April 13, 2022, in the Tarkio High School Auditorium. Written by Mark Burrows and directed by Tarkio R-I Music Director Melody Barnett, “The Principal and the Pea is a short, seven-song musical that uses songs and dialogue to tell the story of students searching for the perfect principal, one who could not stand peas.”

Songs and speakers in order of appearance were: Austin Beckman, Andrew Gladman, and LyNora Kimpston; “Our School”; Ailee Ohnmacht, Diyan Patel, and Victor Perez; “Principals (They Grow Up So Fast)”; JaKaelynn Trimble and Hannah Wennihan; “Food Fight”; Saige Dorrel, Rosalee England, Linley Hogue, and Marlee Ling; “They Never Ask The Kids”; Joseph Nichols, Jorja Peregrine, Leslie Rose, Tavyn Smith, and Alyce Wills; “Peas”; Octavian Smith and Joseph Nichols; “Try It” with Mrs. Peregrine, Mrs. Howard, and Mrs. Taylor; Victor Perez, Austin Beckman, Linley Hogue, and Jorja Peregrine; and “Peas” reprise with Ailee Ohnmacht and Tavyn Smith.

Students in the kindergarten choir included: Dakota Buchanan, TayLynne Corbin, Jaxon Dunkin, Brecklynn Lopez, Kinslee Ohnmacht, Simon Piveral, Everett Scott, Ollie Shaw, Sage Sundermann, Emmaline Vette, Jacob Wills, Skylar Sportsman, Nola Bruce, Rylynn Comstock, Lyzabeth Driskell, Cohen Lundquist, Zaiden Miller, Kinley Niles, Bennett Peregrine, Giovanni Perez, Adamae Ridnour, Zoey Romines, Dallas Terell, Brendan Walkup, and Kash Wheeler.
