Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) held a board meeting April 27, 2022. Present were: Lori Seymour, Roger Martin, W.C. Farmer, Bob Alldredge, Craig Corken, and MaryAnn Hull. Monica Bailey and Carol Clark were also present.

Board members voted to approve the February meeting minutes.

They also approved the February and March financials as presented.

Director Report

Community lunches were held in March. Great information was provided at all three events. Attendance was 32 at Tarkio, 26 at Rock Port, and 41 at Fairfax.

Countywide Job Shadowing Day for juniors was held March 30. A total of 43 students shadowed at 28 businesses and organizations around the county.

Bailey presented at County Government Day on March 31.

ACDC continues to assist Restore Rock Port with staffing and processing donations for their Main Street demo project and Tarkio Renewal with staffing and administration of their Property Improvement Grant. PI Grant funding is still available.

Bailey helped with the Digitally Connected Communities Atchison County Community Form on Broadband and Precision Ag, which was held April 5.

Bailey attended CH-F’s Needs Assessment Focus Group on April 20, Northwest Missouri Roundtable of Economic Developers meetings in March and April, and the Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation board meeting in April.

ACDC’s Youth Beautification Grant applications 2022-2023 projects (to be completed July 31, 2023) are available now.  Applications are due September 7, and winners will be announced at ACDC’s annual meeting on Wednesday, September 14, at the Velma Houts Building in Rock Port.

The 2021 Business Improvement Grant program has awarded $8,566.00 so far, and  $11,434 is still available.  Applications will be awarded until all funds are allocated.

New Business

Board members discussed updates to bylaws. Bailey will present an amended version for signature at the next meeting, June 8.

Restore Rock Port submitted a Nonprofit Support Request for their demo project at 301 S. Main Street, which will cost $45,000-$50,000. A total of $14,000 has been raised to date, with an additional $15,000 committed to the group. Martin moved that ACDC give $5,000 to RRP for this project. Corken seconded and all approved. (Farmer abstained.)
