Four runs batted in from a grand slam hit by Cameron Oswald helped lead the East Atchison Wolves Varsity Baseball Team past North Platte 11-8 on Monday, May 9, 2022, in Tarkio.
An early lead propelled the Wolves to victory. East Atchison scored on a walk by Aaron Schlueter, two errors, and a walk by Jarrett Spinnato in the first inning. After that, the Wolves and North Platte had a back and forth points game, with Oswald adding four when he hit the grand slam in the third inning.
The Wolves totaled 12 hits in the game. Alex Erickson, Josh Smith, Owen DeRosier, and Oswald all managed multiple hits. Oswald got the start on the mound for EA, allowing six hits and seven runs over five and a third innings, striking out five. Aaron Schlueter and Josh Smith also pitched for EA.

District Tournament
The Wolves won their first game in the Class 2 District 16 Baseball Tournament. They will play for the district championship Wednesday, May 18, at 5:30 p.m. against Maysville in Maysville. Complete district results will be printed in next week’s Atchison County Mail.
