The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting April 20, 2022. Mayor Ryan Kingery called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. Also in attendance were: Tabitha Wintz, Kristi Duering, Shannon Long, Debra Wyatt, and Michael Oswald, aldermen; John Brown, Water Superintendent; Lori Helfers, City Clerk; and Danny Kemerling, treasurer.

The tentative agenda was approved.

Lori Helfers, City Clerk, administered the oath of office to Shannon Long, newly-elected alderperson.

Michael Oswald left the meeting at 6:45 p.m.

The aldermen approved the minutes of the March 16, 2022, meeting. They also approved accounts payable.

Old Business

The new welcome banners and Christmas lights are in.

Lori has completed all the reporting requirements and sent in all necessary documentation to meet the first reporting deadline for the American Recovery Plan (ARP) funds.

New Business

Lori informed the council that the property at 204 South Street is up for sealed bid. After a short discussion the aldermen voted for the city to submit a sealed bid for the property.

Staff Reports

Danny Kemerling presented his treasurer’s report. All accounts are in balance.

Lori informed the council that Robert Wilson, Accounting Solutions, will be present at the May meeting to discuss the 2021 city audit.

Lori shared an email from Jerri Dearmont, Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments, stating that the submitted applications for the CDBG street grants are in the final scoring phase.

John Brown reported that the city had a DNR water inspection last week and believes it all went well. The report shows a few recommendations that John and Steve will follow up on.

Buzzards are back in the park. John and Steve will continue to work with conservation agents to get rid of the buzzards in the park.
