Katia and Mike Hawkins spoke at the Fairfax Kiwanis Club meeting about their recent visit to Brazil.
The Fairfax Kiwanis Club members were privileged May 10 to have Mike and Katia Hawkins as guest speakers for their noon meeting. Mike and Katia spent nearly three months in Brazil, her home country, and shared slides and told of their experiences while visiting family and friends. They flew into Bolo Horizonte and drove to Escarpas, staying at a resort in Capitolia, state of Miras Gerain. The countryside was beautiful and the towns quite interesting with a few similarities of resorts in United States and Mexico.
Katia shares many artistic talents with the Fairfax community. Mike recently retired from Tarkio Valley Insurance. They hope to be able to do more traveling.
The Fairfax Kiwanis Club meets every Tuesday at the Community Hospital-Fairfax conference room and is always looking for program presenters and new members. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time.
