The Rock Port Tourism Board met Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. Members present were Mike Farmer, Holly Huntley, Tami Lansdown, Angela Mace, Raechel Schoonover, Jody VanSickle, and Madison Dick. Kayti Hayes was absent.
Holly called the meeting to order at 6:08 p.m.
Board members approved the meeting agenda, the minutes of the March 10, 2022, meeting, and the March 2022 financials.
Madison Dick was approved by the Board of Alderman to fill the empty position on the Tourism Board.
A contract for clean-up and maintenance at the turbine site has been approved for Gary Stoner.
There was nothing new to report on the logo competition.
Emily reported via email that the city website is up.
Tami reported the Quilt Show will be October 1 at the Atchison County Memorial Building. Tami and Madison will be working on a marketing budget for the event. There will not be a vendor market.
Madison provided large packet detailing the Farmers Market event. This is not a tourism board sponsored event. Advertising costs were discussed. Requests need to be made in person.
An update on the 4th of July will be given at next month’s meeting. The 4th of July Committee will be requesting funds for certain events.
Angela and Raechel presented an idea for Bowling with Superheroes. The event will be held May 7 at River Rock Lanes. Mike will advertise in the newspaper and print sign-up sheets to send home with school-age kids in Rock Port, Tarkio, and Fairfax. A budget was set for advertising, bowling/fees, decorations, supplies, food, and miscellaneous. It was approved.
Election of officers was held. New officers are: Holly Huntley, chairman; Mike Farmer, vice-chairman; and Angela Mace, secretary.
Board members voted to recommend Holly and Jody be reappointed to the Tourism Board for another term.
The next meeting will be May 12, 2022, at 6:00 pm.
