The Rock Port Senior Center needs your help.
There is a budget item in Missouri’s budget that potentially may affect our Meals on Wheels program. $15.1 million dollars is targeted to build facilities in Missouri to produce frozen meals that may replace our hot meals delivered to you.
We are not sure what is going to happen with this legislation but are concerned it is not good for our senior center and our Meals on Wheels program.
The budget is awaiting Governor Parson’s signature in the next couple of weeks.
If you wish, you may call the Governors’ office and ask him to remove the line item from the budget. Call 1-573-751-3222 and press 2.
Here is a sample of what you may say:
I am calling on Governor Parsons to remove from the Department of Health and Senior Services budget line item 16, $15.1 million for the expansion of the Area Agency on Aging meal production capacity and infrastructure. This would not benefit seniors or nutrition centers in Northwest Missouri.
