The Atchison County Commission met Thursday, May 26, 2022. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.

Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.

Public Administrator Jayne Scott met with the commission to discuss office matters and presented a list of files for approval to destroy. She reported all files had met the retention schedule. The commissioners voted to approve the list of files to destroy.

North District Commissioner Quimby resigned from the Transportation Advisory Committee. The commissioners voted to appoint Road and Bridge Supervisor Kamron Woodring to serve as one of Atchison County’s representatives.

The commission reviewed a purchase agreement from John Deere for a new scale for the load tractor. After discussion, the commissioners voted to approve the agreement and allow Presiding Commissioner Livengood to sign on behalf of the county.

Clerk Taylor and the commission went over amounts of all projects related to ARPA funding and will begin bidding the projects and look for grant opportunities to expand each project.

Emergency Management Director Rhonda Wiley and Assistant Director Mark Manchester were in to report on the RAD exercise.

Additions to the tax books were: 2019, $303.86; 2020, $2,579.20; 2021, $7,684.46

Abatements from the personal tax books were: 2019, $284.97; 2021, $40.00

There were no additions or abatements to the Tax Books

There were no additions or abatements to the tax books.

The Atchison County Commission met Tuesday, June 7, 2022. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby; and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.

Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.

Month end department reports were reviewed and approved.

The commission reviewed the engagement letter provided by CR Williams & Associates, LLC, for the county financial audit for years ending 2020 and 2021. Fees for the audit will be paid by the State Auditor’s Office. The letter outlined the audit objectives, general audit procedures, internal control procedures, compliance procedures, management responsibilities, engagement administration and fees. Following review, the commissioners voted unanimously to approve the signing of the audit engagement letter. It was signed by Presiding Commissioner Livengood and Clerk Taylor and forwarded to CR Williams and Associates, LLC.

Michelle Horner, candidate for State Representative, stopped in to introduce herself to the commission and discuss issues and concerns.
