The 20th Annual Tarkio Rotary Golf Tournament was played at the Tarkio Golf Course on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. A total of 52 participants enjoyed the warm, sunny day, friendly competition, and free-will donation lunch provided by the Atchison County Hy-Vee and the Tarkio Rotary Club. The four-person scramble format tournament results are as follows:
• Championship Flight – 1st place, Fore Hackers of the Apocalypse Team, 58; 2nd place, Ed Salmond CPA Team, 60; 3rd place, Bussard Insurance Team, 61; 4th place, Over the Hill Gang Team, 66; and 5th place, Tarkio Tech Team, 66
• “A” Flight – 1st place, Adam and Rachel Rolf Team, 68; 2nd place, Koch Custom Woodworking Team, 69; 3rd place, Kay Rosenbohm and Friends Team, 69; and 4th place, Outlaw Wind Farm Team, 70
• “B” Flight – 1st place, Tarkio Chamber of Commerce Team, 71; 2nd place, Morning Sun Seed Team, 71; 3rd place, Colfax Farmers Mutual Team, 75; and 4th Place, Atchison County Hy-Vee Team, 82
Ties were broken by comparing scores on randomly selected holes on the scorecards. Engraved tro-phies were awarded to the top two teams in each flight. Logo golf balls, provided by Tarkio Technology Institute, were awarded to all participating players.
Golf trophies for the winners of the hole prizes were awarded to various participants following the announcement of the tournament results. Hole prizes and their winners included: Kyra Mills and Ed Salmond, longest drives on hole numbers 2 and 3; Gary Bussard and Steven Martin, closest to the pin in two on hole numbers 5 and 8; and Jennifer Heard, Rachel Rolf and Gary Riley, longest putts on hole numbers 1, 3 and 9.
Other prizes, donated by lo-cal businesses, were won by various participants in a random drawing. Unfortunately, no one won the $20,000 hole-in-one contest on hole #8 sponsored by Colfax Farmers Mutual Insurance. However, all players were invited to participate in the “games within the game” to win valuable prizes provided by Dixon Golf on holes 6 and 7.
The Tarkio Rotary Club appreciates everyone who gen-erously donated awards, prizes, sponsorships or their time to participate in this year’s tournament from which the proceeds will be used to support area youth scholarships, activities and community projects of the club this year.
