Jeffrey W. Umbarger, the son of Steven W. and Marcia Lynn (Wennihan) Umbarger, was born March 10, 1967, in Fairfax, Missouri. Jeff graduated in 1986 from BCL High School in Conrad, Iowa, then attended Hawkeye Technical School in Waterloo, Iowa, in Diesel Mechanics.

On February 22, 2003, Jeff was united in marriage to Melinda Wood and they became the parents of one son, Jayden. They later divorced.

Jeff was an extremely talented mechanic who could build or fix anything. He was employed as a mechanic by Fairfax Implement Co. and Miller Auto, both in Fairfax. He later worked nuclear and coal fired plant outages, while also working for his dad at Tarkio LP Gas Company. Jeff was currently operating Tarkio Gas Service Company, LLC.

First and foremost, Jeff was a dad. He loved spending time with his son cruising around the countryside. Jeff was fiercely patriotic and loved his country. He was very opinionated regarding the current political climate. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, fishing and researching genealogy of the Umbarger family. Jeff was a true friend to many. He passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, in Rock Port, Missouri, at the age of 55.

Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents. Survivors include son, Jayden Umbarger, Tarkio, Missouri; parents, Steve and Marcia Umbarger, Rock Port; sister, Jennifer (Clay) Vogler, Rock Port; nieces, Chaney and Tatum Vogler; nephew, Cy Vogler; special friend, Tammy Andrew, Brownville, Nebraska, and her daughters; uncle, Richard Umbarger, Fairfax; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a host of friends.

A funeral service was held Saturday, June 25, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Tarkio. Interment was held at English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax. Rev. Glenn Scott officiated.
