The Rock Port Park Board met Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. at the Rock Port City Park. Members present were Tisha Jackson, Jill Lager, Tawni Ellis, Jennifer Geib, Andrea Cook, and Sheena Roup.

Tisha called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m.

The meeting agenda was approved.

Board members voted to approve the minutes of the May 11, 2022, meeting and the May 2022 financials.

Pool

The park board voted through Google Forms on May 27 to extend family pool passes to all city employees for the 2022 pool season.

Tisha reported that ACCO has recommended the repair of the main pump. Once a quote is received, the park board will go to the city board and request funding through the pool repair account.

Brian from ACCO has also narrowed the problem of the main pool losing water down to the baby pool. This will need to be addressed prior to the 2023 pool season.

Other repairs have been made this past month including a new sump pump for the water slide pit, new flush kits on the toilets, and new valves.

After discussion of the safety of swimmers, board members voted unanimously to modify the current policy (effective immediately) that states children at the age of 8 may come without age appropriate supervision to include “once they can pass a basic swim test.”

They also voted to prohibit vaping, e-cigarettes, or smoking of any kind within the pool and immediate surrounding areas.

Park

Illegal dumping in the park dumpster was once again brought up for discussion due to recent activity regarding the matter.

5L Agronomy has volunteered to spray the tennis courts and Troy Cook has volunteered to spray the ball fields for weeds.

Other Business

The park board will be putting the merry-go-round up for auction. Details will be posted on their facebook page and the city website.

ARPA Ideas – A working meeting has been scheduled for June 14 at 4:00 p.m.
