• An outstanding young violinist William Starr will be heard in a program at David Rankin Hall Monday evening, July 14. Accompanying Mr. Starr at the piano will be the talented and charming Miss Constance Koebelin, in private life Mrs. Starr, from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.
• Dr. K. C. Peters, who arrived in Tarkio Saturday from St. Louis with his wife, children, and mother, has gone back to St. Louis where he will graduate in August from the school of chiropracty. Following his graduation, he will return to Tarkio to join his family and begin his practice.
• J.A. Gerlash returned Monday to Tarkio after a month’s visit with his daughters, Mrs. Phillip Koopman of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. J. Gilbert Malone of Delta, Pennsylvania, and their families. While in the east, Mr. Gerlash did some sightseeing in New York City and Washington, D.C. and was able to observe Congress in session, visiting both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

• Mr. and Mrs. Denny E. Mather and daughter, Jo Anne, will leave in August for Hahn Air Base in Germany to teach in the Department of Defense Military Dependant School.
• The drive for funds to construct a much-needed utility building at the City Ball Park is well underway with over $750 collected. At least $1,350 is needed.
• Three well-attended performances of the 17th annual Missouri State High School Championship Rodeo here last weekend resulted in nearly 5,000 people in attendance. Competition was brisk among 96 contestants, 19 of them girls. There were 13 girls in the queen contest with Paulette Louden of St. Joseph earning the title.

• The Tarkio Community Garden Club has announced its selections for Yard of the Month for July: Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Dukes, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Stepp, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Springer, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Aeschliman, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Butt, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Riley, and Niedermeyer Park.
• A good turnout of 120 Tarkio College graduates attended their Saturday night reunion banquet at the Country Club in Shenandoah, Iowa, June 28. President Charles M. McAdams (class of 1958) presided over the meeting, which recognized new board members, distinguished alumni honorees, athletic hall of fame inductees, and scholarship recipient. Bob Hull (class of 90), demonstrated to the group, via computer, that the Tarkio College Alumni now has a presence on the internet.
• Pat and Julia Snyder and family of Waxhaw, North Carolina, were house guests recently of Florence Rolf of rural Tarkio. As members of Wycliff Bible Translators, Pat is involved in developing an automatic flight following system which could profoundly affect flight operations for translators in countries where air traffic control is not developed.
• A Senate bill was signed into law that establishes the first state restrictions on children riding in the backs of pickup trucks, requires all children to wear seat belts and extends mandatory seat belt requirements to include sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks.
