The Atchison County Commission met Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood and North District Commissioner Jim Quimby. South District Commissioner Richard Burke and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission, were absent.
Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.
Additions and abatements were approved as follows:
Personal Property – May 2022
Additions to the tax books: 2020, $3,902.37; 2021, $4,046.72
There were no abatements from the personal tax books in May 2022.
Real Property – May 2022
There were no additions to the real tax books in May 2022.
Abatements: 2016, $154.96; 2017, $156.43; 2018, $171.39; 2019, $171.96; 2020, $171.99; 2021, $190.19
Ag Rock – May 2022
There were no additions or abatements to the tax books.

The Atchison County Commission met Thursday, June 30, 2022. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission. South District Commissioner Richard Burke was absent.
Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.
At 9:15 a.m. bids were opened and read for an 8.5’ groom machine for the Road and Bridge Department. Road and Bridge Supervisor Kamron Woodring was present for the opening. Road Groom Manufacturing, Grundy Center, Iowa, submitted the only bid. The base bid was $15,100. With additions of a pump kit, carbide holders and the company providing 100 road miles of training, the total cost was $21,388.00. After reviewing the bids, Supervisor Woodring stated that it met all the specifications. The commissioners voted to approve the bid and purchase.
Supervisor Woodring then presented an agreement with Great River Engineering, Kansas City, to submit the needed grant paperwork for five bridges on behalf of the county for a total amount of $1,000.00. The agreement was reviewed and signed by the commission. Great River Engineering will submit the necessary grant requirements for the five remaining truss bridges in the county.
The commission appointed Sam O’Riley and Craig Corken to serve as citizen members on the 2022 Board of Equalization.
